Abstract: 

Introduction: Working with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) often involves engaging with multiple file formats and complex viewers. In this study, we developed a novel platform as a visualization and conversion fMRI (VCfMRI) MATLAB toolbox for fMRI data. Methods: The VCfMRI was developed to read and write 3D fMRI volumes in DICOM, NIfTI, ANALYZE, and MAT formats and convert between them, on a single user-friendly platform. It includes 62 functions across seven graphical user interface modules for conversion, batch read/write, and orthogonal viewing (sagittal, coronal, horizontal). This toolbox also supports overlaying statistical maps on anatomical images with adjustable thresholds. We built and tested VCfMRI using real datasets from a scanner (3T, Siemens Co.) at UMRAM, Bilkent University. Results: VCfMRI successfully converted and visualized all supported formats in one environment, enabling synchronized 3D views and functional overlays with interactive threshold control, streamlining previously fragmented steps. Conclusion: The VCfMRI toolbox provides a simple and efficient solution for fMRI data conversion and visualization. It simplifies the handling of fMRI datasets across different formats, which is especially beneficial for physicians, healthcare specialists, and researchers who face challenges in processing and visualizing multi-format neuroimaging data.

Abstract: 

Due to the important role in providing safe conditions for train movements, railway interlocking systems are considered as safety critical systems, hence it requires advanced formal modeling techniques and step-by-step development to ensure safety, quality and reliability of the system. State flow toolbox of MATLAB software is a convenient tool for formal design. In this paper, a new simulator of railway signaling and interlocking systems based on discrete-event dynamic is presented. with receiving the basic information about physical features and policies of railway network, this simulator models and simulates the interlocking system. The primary features of this simulator are facility in design and developing the interlocking system and its ability to test the new interlocking functions in it. The main innovation in this simulator is that the elements of the railway network are designed based on discrete-event dynamic and its ability to develop and communicate interlocking system with other railway traffic control systems. To evaluate the performance of the proposed simulator, we simulate the interlocking system of a railway station and line 2 of Tehran metro in this simulator.

Abstract: 

Purpose: Although MATLAB is a powerful math program, its virtual reality (VR) toolbox is limited for those who engage in the modelling of human body systems. The integration of Poser software with MATLAB is provided in this study for designing and developing human bodies in VR. Materials and Methods: First, a human entire body model was created in the Poser environment. The prototype is then loaded into MATLAB Simulink. Results: Two-Link Arm powered by Six Muscles (TLASM), a well-known model of human arm movements in the horizontal plane, is simulated to test the efficiency of the virtual model. TLASM was presented in this team's prior work. Conclusion: Despite the fact that only one limb of the human virtual platform body has been tested, it can easily be applied to other limbs.

Abstract: 

In this paper, a finite volume scheme is used to discretize flow in porous media. A numerical method for treating advection-dominated contaminant transport for flow of groundwater is described. This system combines the advantages of numerical discretization and the finite volume method (like local mass conservation). The equations are discretized using a finite volume approach. The resulting nonlinear differential system is integrated in time using a solver. The conservation of energy (convection-diffusion) equation is solved using a special method for reducing the oscillations induced by the standard finite volume method. Consequently, a mathematical model for multi-component flow transport in an anisotropic media is presented, which couples the equations for multi-component diffusion and Darcy"s law for flow in a porous medium. Furthermore, application of an integrated matlab system in several studies has been provided. The integrated matlab system is based on open data formats and standards and may be used for many other application areas, especially where modeling in 2D and 3D is involved. Numerical simulations are performed to validate the model and investigate the effect. The final purpose of this paper is to discuss and compare the difference between the finite volume scheme for uniform and for unstructured" grids, which is shown to be less than 0.2 percent.
